Abenaki Chairlift Opens at Bearfoot Creek
Ariella Neville of Prudential Joy Tarbell Realty was among the first skiers and boarders to ride the newly extended Abenaki Chairlift on Bear Peak at Attitash Mountain. The lift carried its first passengers through Bearfoot Creek late Friday morning, December 14th. The trails and the lift opened just in time for weekend skiers who are excited about the fresh snow falling throughout New England. Following two disappointing ski seasons, 2008 is already shaping up to be a great one. Attitash’s $2.5 million snow-making upgrade combined with plenty of early season snow is creating lots of enthusiasm and anticipation for this year’s season. Attitash and Bear Peak are already blanketed top to bottom with both man-made and natural snow.
With snow still sparkling on the trees and rooftops of million dollar homes, skiing through Bearfoot Creek is truly a unique New England experience. Panoramic mountain views and the ambiance of these traditional ski lodge style homes add a new dimension to the slopes of Attitash. The new development has some concrete benefits as well. There are now three new trails on Bear Peak: Billy’s BBQ, Chillymack and the Bearfoot Creek Trail. These trails provide additional beginner terrain on the mountain. The extension of the Abenaki Chairlift added a new half-way unloading station and allows the chairlift to run 30% faster. If the past two weeks are any indication, this is a going to be a fabulous ski season in New Hampshire, and especially at Attitash Mountain.
